How to Progress in Life with the Four Paths of Yoga

Everyone wants to progress in life. We think more money, more prestige and recognition constitutes success. While this may be true, we also need to care for our inner happiness, which comes from being closer to the call of our soul. The four ways we can develop are called the four paths of Yoga. Sivananda ashrams and centers worldwide teach the synthesis of Yoga in daily life as a unique method for self-development.

Experience a combination of classical methods—four paths of Yoga whose practices purify and enhance body, mind and spirit in a most natural and effective manner. There are different approaches for different temperaments. Swami Sivananda talks about harmony between head, heart and hands. This involves an integral, well-rounded self-development of intellect, emotions, learning of practical skills, clarity of thinking, and opening of the heart. Slow down, relax and fine-tune your awareness.

Learn the practices belonging to Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja/Hatha Yoga and Jnana Yoga as taught by classical scripture in order to balance your strengths and weaknesses and overcome obstacles created by your own mental tendencies and habits. Learn accessible theory and practices of each of the four paths and how to apply them in daily life. Begin to see positive shifts in your life.

The wisdom of this combined method is unsurpassed in helping the sincere student reveal their inner potential. The daily schedule gives a glimpse of this harmonious weaving of the physical practices, energetic practices, mental and emotional practices, as well as guiding you in Self-knowledge.

This heartfelt prayer for enlightenment expresses the yearning of humanity to transcend suffering and reach Divine awareness through pursuit of the Yoga path. This is your highest purpose.

Lead me from untruth to Truth.
Lead me from darkness to Light.
Lead me from death (mortality) to Immortality (eternal life or realization of the Self).
