Yoga Wellness Retreat as Lifestyle Medicine

Scientists recognize the benefit of using evidence-based lifestyle interventions for healing—they’re easy to practice, cheap, and open to all. Rediscover the inner connection with your Self in the gentle, nourishing atmosphere of the Ashram. Swami Sivananda—whose 200 books form the foundation of our teachings—was a medical doctor, a Himalayan sage and a humanitarian. Swami Vishnudevananda carried his master’s love of healing to the western world in the 1950s and taught this practical science of yoga and lifestyle medicine for 60 years.

Established by Swami Sivananda, our daily schedule follows the rhythm of nature and has been adopted by the entire network of Sivananda Ashrams and Centers worldwide. Return to health through this balanced routine, which includes an intricate combination of time in silence, collective chanting, and sharing of the wisdom of the sages. We strengthen, stretch and energize our bodies—along with the internal organs. We concentrate the mind and relax the spirit.

Pranayama (breathing exercises, regulating the flow of vital energy) is essential in jumpstarting a higher level of health, as well as calming your emotions. Meditation is an important daily healing practice to tap the eternal body/mind/spirit connection.

Empower yourself with Self-knowledge and natural wisdom. Regain confidence in the healing power of your own conscious awareness and mental positivity.

Afternoon workshop topics include:

  • Who is the Self and the Causes of Disease
  • Physical/Mental/Spiritual Benefits of Meditation
