Swami Amritananda

Swami Amrita is a dedicated yoga teacher and karma yogi from Japan, with over 18 years of yoga practice and more than a decade of teaching experience in Hatha Yoga. She holds the RYT500 and IAYT-ACCREDITED SYHET 800-hour certificates. In 2025, she embraced monastic life in the Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda tradition, fully dedicating herself to spiritual practice and selfless service. Currently, she serves as one of the main teachers and karma yoga manager at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California.

She shares the teachings of Hatha Yoga, chanting, meditation, and positive thinking with clarity, devotion, and deep understanding. Off the mat, she finds joy in gardening and baking. Her calm and grounded presence uplifts every class she teaches and every moment of service she inspires, gently motivating others to live the yogic path with sincerity and joy.

This Yogic Meditation course introduces the basic guidelines and conditions for classical yogic meditation. There will be discussion on Why meditate? and the necessity to go to the transcendental level of existence to find true peace and happiness. Participants will study the mechanics of the mind and how to calm the mind and turn inward for Self-awareness.

Prana, Pranayama, and Yuba River Weekend

August 21 - 24, 2025
During this weekend we will visit the pristine Yuba river and do pranayama by the river and swim and relax.  Spending time by the river and practicing pranayama increases our energy and helps us to understand the relationship between prana and our state of mind.  We will have some discourses on Hatha Yoga, Yogic lifestyle and routines, and the Yoga Sutras.

Karma Yoga Week

Karma Yoga is service done without selfish expectations. We welcome karma yogis, especially for this karma yoga week. Karma Yogis work four hours a day and have a 50% reduction on accommodations. Gardening, maintenance, building and cooking skills are especially welcome. A Permaculture Action Day will also be taking place on Tuesday, October 10th as part of the Karma Yoga Week.
