Scientists recognize the benefit of using evidence-based lifestyle interventions for healing—they’re easy to practice, cheap, and open to all. Rediscover the inner connection with your Self in the gentle, nourishing atmosphere of the Ashram. Swami Sivananda—whose 200 books form the foundation of our teachings—was a medical doctor, a Himalayan sage and a humanitarian. Swami Vishnudevananda carried his master’s love of healing to the western world in the 1950s and taught this practical science of yoga and lifestyle medicine for 60 years.

Everyone wants to progress in life. We think more money, more prestige and recognition constitutes success. Sivananda ashrams and centers worldwide teach the synthesis of Yoga in daily life as a unique method for self-development.

Self-healing is the process of revealing and removing wrong thinking about yourself. The nature of the Self is Satchidananda—absolute truth, consciousness and bliss. Vedanta philosophy points out our mistaken thinking, illusions of separation superimposed upon the Truth. In fact, Self-knowledge and Self-healing are the same. The process involves the calming of the mind to be able to feel the Self. The mind, in its turbulent state, cannot reflect the true Self.
